Velocity Commerce accelerates growth with new senior hires – Velocity Commerce

Velocity Commerce, the online retail specialist based in Cambridge, UK, has made a number of new senior hires to support the company’s continued levels of growth. Velocity Commerce’s annual sales are expected to reach over £30 million in 2019, and in the past twelve months Velocity Commerce has doubled its number of team members from 15 to 30.

With a wave of senior appointments across the Consultancy, Logistics, Finance and HR departments, Velocity Commerce has expanded to a second UK office premises in Histon, while maintaining its current office and distribution centre in Bar Hill.

Co-founded by Eddie Latham and PJ Scott in 2013, Velocity Commerce uses its experience and knowledge of online marketplaces, such as Amazon and eBay, to help brands build a strong online presence and increase revenue through online sales. Eddie and PJ started the business investing only £3,000 of their own money, selling branded clearance stock from their homes. Today, Velocity Commerce manages and retails product ranges online for a wide variety of partners, including: Brita, Nextbase, Hoover and Sony, and handles, on average, over 3,000 orders per day.

Joining the business as part of the expansion is Adam Caseley, Marketplace Manager, who has been appointed to help to drive the consultancy side of the business. With many years’ experience in the ecommerce industry, Adam is an expert on online marketplace algorithms, and will be overseeing the optimisation strategy of all partner content.

International sales expert, Silvia Misa, has also joined the team as Financial Controller. With more than ten years’ experience across a range of businesses, in particular multinational retail, Silvia’s expertise will help accelerate Velocity Commerce’s global reach, growing sales into new markets and expanding the business.

Also joining the team is Gemma Copping, HR Manager. Gemma brings with her more than 15 years’ experience in the Human Resources sector, and will manage all HR operations across both Velocity Commerce sites.

As well as helping brands to optimise their presence online, Velocity Commerce offers a fulfilment service to its clients, and manages the distribution of both current ranges and end of line, returned and refurbished stock. To support with Velocity Commerce’s logistics services, Stuart Pogson has joined the team as Business Intelligence Manager. With a background in demand and merchandise planning for Tesco, Stuart has extensive experience in improving the efficiency of merchandising and supply chain for retail businesses.

Eddie Latham, Co-founder and Director, Velocity Commerce, comments: “Since PJ and I established Velocity six years ago, growth has continued to be phenomenal; in our first year of business we saw sales of £500,000, this year we will reach £30million. We are pleased to be able to welcome so many new members to the Velocity team this year, and are excited to see what their new skillsets, expertise and experiences will bring to the business”.

Velocity Commerce was recently named one of the fastest growing companies in Europe in the latest FT 1000 report; one of just 27 UK companies to have made it to the top 100. In December 2018, Velocity Commerce was also ranked 11th in ‘The Sunday Times Virgin Atlantic Fast Track 100’ 2018 league table, which identifies Britain’s fastest-growing companies over the last three years.
